Radio Part 2 & its future?
So I rushed that first post a while back. I wanted to get something up as soon as possible. I left out some items. First is at socalgoth.com you can find radio stations from san diego that plays on Thursday, Friday nights. And yup, they are streamed on the web too. Its nice (even though there may be some advertisement) to have a live dj, giving some info threw out the show, and what’s happening around the area I live in. The rest of the time I’ll have to settle with non live djs. One internet station I found back when I played second life was tormentedradio.com by dj dead. There’s also gothradio.com.
And now the boring stuff. Radio stations haven’t been doing that well for years now. I know at least 3 here that have gone out. I however rarely listen to radio because; I have better music for me on my ipod. So will radio die? Everyones using those high tech ipods/mp3 players, those cds players.. it’s the death of radio! I’m not too sure there will be, however it will continue to shrink, and perhaps evolve. What do I mean? Well satellite radio, that thing that was suppose to end radio, well it’ll never do that, but it shows us that people want diverse music. Now here’s where it gets complicated. We are seeing a move into the all in one device. This is why apple, controlling the mp3 market, saw how it’ll just one day be replaced by.. yup phones. My nokia e71, can go to these internet stations in the car and play music threw my car speakers. It can play the songs I have on it. Only part that we have to deal with is the service providers for phones and there networks signal/charges (that one man with att that was watching tv for example). Is this perhaps why they did or were trying to get rid of free internet radio? Now my ideas are way off, but it isn’t hard to see one day, plug your phone into the car, and have control over everything that you want. We already can press next button from your steering wheels for ipods….
Warcraft + Relationships = Brokenhearts?
I’ll usually leave the life entries to livejournal, this, however is one exception. (I will try best keep personal stuff limited as best I can). So ever heard of a game called world of warcraft? Yeah, I play it; have for 4 years and counting. Early on for first two years, I had problems threw out, where I’d find myself on it ten hours a day. Day after day I’d be playing this game. Time passed and I woke up and realized its not that important to me.
The problem is my girlfriend, has a problem and can’t even admit it. She’s on it, all the time, everyday. Its getting to the point were the relationship is being damaged, and she doesn’t even notice it. I’ve tried talking to her but she just says “I don’t know why you have such a problem with me playing wow so much”. For one, she talks more to her guild members than me. This past week she’s hardly messaged me. Her priority right now is a game, a game. Most breakups from wow are based on girl leaving guy, but if this keeps on and gets worse, it might be other way around, that’s what this road looks like. I hope it doesn’t but i have no idea how to get threw to her, how it isn’t good for her playing so much, it isn’t good for us.
Radio for rest of us.
Today i’ve discovered a radio station that doesn’t play, well, there music.
I found threw socalgoth.com a radio station that plays every Saturday darker music. KUCI 88.9. From 8 To 10pm and then a different show comes on from 10 to midnight. The only problem is its located in Irvine, and radio doesn’t pick it up here. They do have a stream on the web threw kuci.org. You’ll find it in the top right of the page. More importantly it posts on there show blog all the songs that was played. Great, new music, i know the name, and a radio station I can truly listen to.
soo today was the first time i saw nick since early 2007 i guess, around the breakup vic and co went to see if could find him at his work. first thing he said was i see you changed your clothing. he wanted to know how everyone was doing, of course i don’t know, all i know is from what i hear from luis, and read/spy/stalk of coco’s journals.
speaking of which in july, when i switched myspaces because of url, i did friend request nariman and brandon, nariman denied, and brandon didn’t add, so its not like i didn’t try.
Jacob's Ladder
Eckhart saw hell too. You know what he said? He said the only thing that burns in hell is the part of you that won’t let go of your life — your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they’re not punishing you, he said. They’re freeing your soul. So the way he sees it.. if you’re frightened of dying and you’re holding on.. you’ll see devils tearing your life away. But if you’ve made your peace, then the devils are really angels freeing you from the earth. It’s just a matter of how you look at it, that’s all. - Louis, Jacob’s Ladder (1990)
